Privacy Policy
Sunscreen has no accounts, no analytics and no ads, and runs no servers of its own. Your data stays on your watch. This is the full version of the policy shown inside the app.

In short
- What it reads. Time in Daylight, from Health, so it knows how long you've been outside. Your approximate location — or just your time zone, if you haven't granted location.
- Where it goes. Health data never leaves the watch. Approximate coordinates go to Apple Weather to fetch the local UV index. No accounts, no analytics, no ads.
- What is kept. Your sunscreen logs stay on the watch. Deleting the app deletes them.
- Turning it off. Daylight: Settings › Health › Apps › Sunscreen. Location: Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Sunscreen.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not operate a server, a database or any analytics for this app, and there is no account to create. We do not collect, receive, store, sell or share personal information about you, and the app contains no third-party tracking or advertising code.
Health data
With your permission, Sunscreen reads one value from Apple Health: Time in Daylight. It is used for one purpose — to estimate how much UV exposure you have had since you last applied sunscreen, so the app can tell you when to reapply.
- It is read on your Apple Watch and used on your Apple Watch. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
- It is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold.
- Sunscreen writes nothing back into Health.
- You can revoke access at any time under Settings › Health › Apps › Sunscreen. The app keeps working; it assumes you're mostly indoors and the estimate is coarser.
Location
With your permission, Sunscreen uses your approximate location for two things: to look up the local UV index, and to work out the sun's position in the sky. If you decline, it uses the principal city of your time zone instead, and everything still works.
- Approximate coordinates are sent to Apple Weather to fetch the day's UV forecast, about once a day. Apple's handling of that request is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Your location is not stored off the device by us, not logged by us and not shared with anyone else.
- You can revoke access at any time under Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › Sunscreen.
Weather data
UV index and cloud cover come from Apple Weather and the meteorological agencies it draws on. That is the only outside service the app talks to.
What stays on your device
Your record of sunscreen applications, the cached daily forecast and your app preferences are stored locally on your Apple Watch. If you have iCloud backup enabled, they may be included in your encrypted Apple backup, which we cannot access. To delete everything, delete the app — there is nothing anywhere else.
Notifications
Reapplication reminders are scheduled and delivered locally on your device. No push service is involved, so nothing about them passes through us.
Children
Sunscreen is not directed at children under 13, and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version is posted here with a new date at the top, and the on-watch summary is updated to match.
